McDonalds - Pokemon (2023)
This Pokemon card set was released in the United States on August 16, 2022 by McDonald's as a Happy Meal toy. It was released as merchandise for the popular Pokemon trading card game. While McDonald's outside of Japan was known for packaging trading cards alongside a toy when they partnered with Pokemon, this particular promotion was unique by the fact the toys themselves corresponded with the cards.
Upon purchasing a toy, the customer would receive a box with a one of six kinds of Pokemon featured on the outside. Each box was numbered, one through twelve, and inside the customer would find a spinner toy and coin with the same Pokemon as featured on the box, an instruction sheet for how to play the game, and a booster pack of Pokemon cards. Each pack contained four cards, each randomly generated with one foil card in the mix. There are 15 different cards in all and are re-releases from previous series.
While there are ten toys in total, there are only five Pokemon featured, with each particular Pokemon receiving two different boxes. These boxes contain the exact same contents however, with the only difference being the spinner and box color differing; even the design of the spinner remains the same.
In addition, a Pikachu-themed Happy Meal Box was available for this promotion and differs slightly from the box released in 2021 and 2022. Aside from the Pokemon cards, each item was exclusive to this release.
